Redwoods are the tallest living trees of our Earth, with the largest being found in the Western coast of the United States. Beyond their height, they are characterized by their piney tops, thick trunks, and seed-bearing cones. They can live for around 2,000-3,000 years, and have existed on our Earth for over 200 million years. Their dense nature combined with the cold air from the Pacific ocean creates an almost permanent fog within the forest, allowing for a lot of life to exist beneath their canopy. The tallest of these redwoods is the tree "Hyperion", being over 100 meters tall.
The redwood Hyperion and other extremely tall redwoods specific locations are left unmarked and unknown to the general public to help with preservation efforts, as redwoods originally were unprotected and would have been endangered by human lumbering. A natural cause of their endangerment are the repeated wildfires that occur in the West coast, causing most of them to either be burned or fragmented from their habitats. If the redwood were to go extinct, it still would fail to compare to some projected giants found in the Asian continent based on the records of their petrified stumps.
